Useful Tips |
| Speed limit - by John from Perth |
| Obey the law, then you have no problems in Singapore. Some roads are closed to normal traffic and permits have to be obtained to use those roads, especially during peak hour traffic. |
| Traffic - by Bryan from UK/ Australia |
| Singapore is probably the worst place in the world for driving. The drivers have no idea what they are doing - and unlike the disorganised confusion of Thailand or Indonesia - the "organised confusion" is much worse - in Indonesia for example you expect someone to just turn out of a side entrance without looking - here you do not. There is no such thing as "maintaining your lane" or indicators! Unlike places like Italy or France where there is mad driving but also much care for other road users - here no one cares. The Singaporeans are wonderful people - just VERY BAD DRIVERS!! |

Singapore Overview |
Singapore is a special destination because despite developing into one of the most economically thriving countries in Asia is has kept its heritage and charm.
Predominantly Chinese in population and style, Singapore also has strong Indian and Malay communities whose influences add to the rich culture found here. Superb western comforts and entertainment, a busy business sector and a vibrant heritage are all packed into this small city state.

Singapore Essentials |
Colonial District - Singapore was a British colony and this area of the city state has many architectural reminders of the British's rule. One of the landmarks here is the Raffles hotel named after one of the key figures in the progression of Singapore.
China Town - Despite development over recent times, Chinatown still gives a marvellous insight into the heritage of Singapore. Small shops and restaurants are still here in large numbers and a visit here is a must when in Singapore. Chinatown also boasts the impressive Thian Hock Keng Temple.
Little India - A wonderful atmosphere of music, colour and aroma greets you as you enter this exciting area of Singapore. Throughout Little India there are markets, traditional shops and picturesque temples, a fantastic experience.
Sentosa Island - The most popular of Singapore's attractions, Sentosa is just of the south of the main body of land. It is a great place to visit with its mix of museums, beaches and aquariums.
Jurong - Situated to the west of the main city centre, Jurong is the business and economic centre of the country. It is worth a visit as it has some of the most popular attractions in Singapore including a theme park and the Chinese Garden. |
